Hoping to get Instagram and possibly Facebook pages properly running soon, where the content in posts like this one is better suited. But for now, putting photos and a bit of text in this months post.
Again, a trip to the Charente for my mum’s birthday, with stops in Boulogne on way up and down.
And yes, I did buy wine in Boulogne, wine posts coming next month.
Éphémère Gardens- Music Theme
First up, in Boulogne on way down. Every year the Éphémère Gardens alternate between spring flowers and a summer/autumn theme. Previous themes have included: the five senses, movies, Egyptology, and this year, music.
Whatever the theme or time of year, the Éphémère Gardens always looks good. Here are some photos.
Colonne de la Grande Armée
As I have mentioned before, I have tried several times to visit the little museum at the Colonne de la Grande Armée (Column of the Grand Army) for several years, but it has always been closed when I have tried. This is a column of Napoleon Bonaparte, that you can see if you go to the Intermache supermarket.
At last I got the timing right and went when the gates where open. Lovely grounds and great to see the column close up. There is a small museum area which is free, with charges to go up the column. That was not available on day I went, but to be honest, I did not fancy a long walk up lots of stairs. Got some photos of the grounds, column and museum space.

The Charente
Onto the Charente. Birthday lunch with mum (Ellen), and some friends of hers. Just look a the view from the terrace of the restaurant.
Quite a bit of gardening work too. Just could not resist including this photo in the garden of Mum with her dog, Sophie.
Wine posts coming next month.
